Lead Electrodeposition from Highly Concentrated Calcium Chloride Aqueous Solutions

چکیده

CaCl2 is a low-toxic, inexpensive reagent that dissolves in large amounts water to form highly concentrated aqueous solutions, or hydrate melts electrolyte. In this work, it was investigated the solutions (aq) as novel lead (Pb) electrodeposition baths. While PbCl2 poorly soluble at room temperature, dissolved up 0.452 mol kg−1 ([Pb(II)] = 93.7 g kg−1) by formation of PbCl42− complexes aq due its high Cl− activity. Electrochemical measurements confirmed apparent exchange current density and limiting Pb decreased with increasing concentration. Since diffusion Pb(II) species limited viscosity ionic strength solution, agitation effective improving ion transport rate. The presence chloride ions electrolysis usually detrimental low solubility PbCl2, however, solution can be potential candidate electrolyte for PbCl2-based electrolytic processes.

Rotational dynamics of thiocyanate ions in highly concentrated aqueous solutions.

The thiocyanate (SCN(-)) anion is known as one of the best denaturants, which is also capable of breaking the hydrogen-bond network of water and destabilizing native structures of proteins. Despite prolonged efforts to understand the underlying mechanism of such Hofmeister effects, detailed dynamics of the ions in a highly concentrated solution have not been fully elucidated yet. Here, we used ...

Accurate description of calcium solvation in concentrated aqueous solutions.

Calcium is one of the biologically most important ions; however, its accurate description by classical molecular dynamics simulations is complicated by strong electrostatic and polarization interactions with surroundings due to its divalent nature. Here, we explore the recently suggested approach for effectively accounting for polarization effects via ionic charge rescaling and develop a new an...

Component dynamics in polyvinylpyrrolidone concentrated aqueous solutions.

(2)H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and neutron scattering (NS) on isotopically labelled samples have been combined to investigate the structure and dynamics of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) aqueous solutions (4 water molecules/monomeric unit). Neutron diffraction evidences the nanosegregation of polymer main-chains and water molecules leading to the presence of water clusters. NMR reveals the s...

Ionic Behavior in Highly Concentrated Aqueous Solutions Nanoconfined between Discretely Charged Silicon Surfaces.

Through molecular dynamics simulations considering thermal vibration of surface atoms, ionic behaviors in concentrated NaCl solutions confined between discretely charged silicon surfaces have been investigated. The electric double layer structure was found to be sensitive to the density and distribution of surface charges. Due to the discreteness of the surface charge, a slight charge inversion...
